In a confluence of innovation and tradition, Melón Jiménez and Lara Wong bring unexpected protagonists—the Indian bansuri flute and the flamenco guitar—to reimagine flamenco’s evolution from its Indian and African roots.

The Juno nominated, Madrid-based duo featuring flutist and bansuri player, Lara Wong and flamenco guitarist, Melón Jiménez, take audiences on a musical journey of dynamic compositions and vivid improvisation. Dazzling flamenco guitar passages, mystical bansuri melodies, entrancing percussion rhythms, and colourful flute improvisations come together in this truly singular musical voyage.

Melón, a celebrated flamenco-jazz guitarist from Madrid, has collaborated with Anoushka Shankar, Richard Bona, Niña Pastori, and Jorge Pardo, among others. Lara is a Canadian flutist and bansuri player and was awarded Best Flamenco Instrumentalist at the Festival Cante de las Minas, becoming the first foreign prize winner at Spain’s most prestigious flamenco festival. They came together in 2021 and since then they have performed in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa at venues like Vancouver Folk Festival, National Arts Centre, Mariposa Festival, and Bluenote Shanghai. Their debut album Confluencias, has been nominated for "Instrumental Album of the Year" in the 2025 Junos.
