About the event
Based out of Ontario, Canada The North River craft honest folk songs seasoned with fiddle, banjo and storytelling lyrics. The band has shared the stage with acts such as Jim Bryson, Meredith Moon, and Hawksley Workman and performed at the Mariposa folk festival.
The bands singer/songwriter Nicholas Keays got his start in the punk scene touring the US, Canada, and Australia with his band Mugshot. Now a family man, Keays’ songwriting has matured with influences like Mipso, Zach Bryan and Watchhouse. The new record “Above the Smoke” includes the single “the lucky ones” recorded with Ken Friesen (The Tragically Hip, Great Big Sea) and features David Kaye on bass and members of Canadian Bluegrass heroes The Barrel Boys on fiddle and banjo.
